Nov 2022 from Leslie - Guest ranting

The image of the back is upside down so we can see what Leslie wrote on the flap - which was flipped up. It looks like it might say something - but it might be very artistic scribbling. I'm surprised that I don't do scribbling any more. Maybe I should try it again. I wonder how many of the readers have never tried scribbling. It might seem like a ridiculous idea. Maybe I should look for some tutorials. The formal terms for scribbling are gestural or asemic - and once again - I am not sure of the spelling of that word - but do not have time to search right now.

Well this is fun. On the day I requested topics for ranting - I received a lovely list from a loyal reader -- and some of the topics on their list are things that I do. So - I'm wondering how to respond. I don't think it is important which of our readers sent in the list - but, it does give me a lot to talk about that is somewhat related to envelopes/art/art supplies. It also relates to the bigger picture of how we integrate our lives with the chores we have to do and the creative activities that feed our souls.

At some point in early November, while looking for something else, I ran across an old blog post form 2015 discussing my I'm-SERIOUS-this-time declaration that I was going to get my hoard reduced. This would have been back during the time I had a studio - 1500 square feet of cherished art supplies, etc.

What is it about hoard reduction that is so difficult?

As luck would have it, as I delve into books that may or may not have some strategies for working with my *new* brain, I've actually stumbled across some information that is interesting and might be tipping me into the zone that I have been attempting to enter.

(Apologies for the lack of structure or making a point today - just rambling.)

  1. I'm also horrible at hoard reduction of art supplies. It doesn't help that I seem to always be adding to the hoard instead of reducing it, and that I justify it with the fact that I have many interests in many styles, and that I use those supplies for a variety of things, and that as soon as I get rid of it, I know, without a doubt, I'm going to need it!
