thank you to alyce

i just did some angular oversized script (with a black ZIG Writer) and squared off the ends (with a G-Tec). Then i looked for a stamp and liked the way the shapes in the photo were similar to the shapes in the letters. the two different fonts and the two vertical red lines were the most logical way to tie the address to the stamp. and as i keep saying, i like contrasting BIG and little.

  1. Great envelope. Love the red lines around Wisconsin and forever. You are a fabulous source of inspiration for my project

  2. Today is my post office day. I wait in my car until there are no other cars in the parking lot so I can get the attention I need. Today I will show them the "bar code envelope" and watch them try to figure it out. I hope they don't go "postal" on me

  3. i'm thinking we should pitch the idea of a serial documentary... our trips to the post office... waiting in the parking lot... cliff hanger on every episode...

  4. Smash - Now what would make you think they would go postal? I mean...waiting in the parking lot til all are gone... Going inside armed with only a barcode...postal workers as your only hostages.............

  5. OK this is how is worked out... Enter into empty post office...Get outgoing envelopes hand cancelled...Get book "Mail Art" (loaned to postal worker) returned to me. Flash out I Pad and show bar code envelope. This is where is gets hairy, "where was this mailed" "Texas", and where did it go, "DesMoines, Iowa". "Very smart postal carrier"
This IMb code is the same info as zip +4. The carrier has to know what house on the street to deliever it to.
The 3 women who run our local PO have become friends. They have copied some of the envelopes, and worked to put me in contact with local people who have old stamps. This is a riot

  6. Getting ready to shut down for the night and remembered I hadn't checked the blog today and I hadn't said thank you for the envelope I received. I was surprised when I saw the envelope there. Thank you! It's so nice to get fun mail in my mailbox.
