To Susan from Phillip - Brand names

Smash was delighted with this mailing from Phillip. It's a zip-top bag that held Smash-Mallow cookie dough. Susan Mashman's nickname is Smash. Smash and Phillip are charter members of the envelope exchange. Phillip must have a huge stash of stamps because he is always able to pull out the perfect stamps to go with his envelopes which are often recycled materials.

Below is the flip side.

This very pretty postcard was inside.

And.... while we are admiring packaging that becomes fun mail art....
last time I was in Chicago - my daughter ordered pizza. I was tempted to save the top, trim it down and mail it to Lynne - as a giant postcard - and I would have - if it had been a good design. Sadly it is a mish-mash of fonts, shapes, random images, those vertical lines that make no sense. I'm always curious about how things like this evolve. At least the pizza was good. If I lived in Chicago, I'm not sure I would even bother cooking.

And then I was wondering if I would ever get any *Wilson* mail..... I imagine there are some options if one were buying sporting goods - or related merch. I bet there are more people on the exchange with *brand* names. When my boys were young, I enjoyed finding t-shirts for them with the Wilson sporting goods logo. I was curious what I'd find on line. <1 min pause> Fun stuff popped up. Not that I would wear this - but it's cute. There are 6 people on the exchange list with last names that probably have some fun *brands* already in use. Stay tuned.

  1. So good to see this with its great postmarks! I've had the bag for a while, and was very glad I could locate it when I was in the same PTEX group as Smash

  2. My interpretation of the box lid is that they are going for an Italian theme with Michelangelo's David statue and those vertical lines to represent Roman pillars and then, of course, pizza. I love Phillip's envelope to smash. So clever.

  3. Haha!! We recently found out that one of our ancestors who entered Ellis island in NY from Italy added the “i” in his name to make it sound more fancy! It should have been Salerno.
