Sept from Teresa - proportions/leaves/minimalism

This was inside the envelope below.

And the above envelope was inside the one below.

Teresa is a new exchanger. You'll want to click on the link below to see her artwork. Clearly Teresa is not doing the Hokey Pokey italics. I'm including the outer envelope which she might have assumed would not be on the blog - but it has educational value - so I trust Teresa is OK with me posting it.

Please look at the proportions of the caps on my name and compare them to the caps on the address. I've mentioned how the proportions are important. Personally, They need to be either -more than double-  or -less than double- the height of the lower case letters. On this envelope she went with -more- on the name and -less- on the address. Very nice.

We were taught in kindergarten to make caps twice the height of the lower case - which is precisely why they are - to my eye - lacking in finesse. It was fine as a starting point - but it's was just a starting point...like the HokeyPokey.

Teresa lives in Colorado so it's not surprising that she is inspired by aspen leaves. While flowers are popular subject matter and I do a lot of flowers. Sometimes I think I prefer leaves to flowers. Probably because they are mostly flat....which appeals to the minimalist in me.

Minimalism.... foreshadowing.....

There might be someone who is already snickering - because she knows that her mailing is coming up tomorrow.

It's a doozy.
