Here are a couple black and white envelopes that arrived in August - from Sharen above and JeanR below. I don't think I've seen any black and white nichos. Everything is colorful - and high contrast. The white skulls and skeletons often have some black details. But the setting is always colorful. Bright colors.
Here's a 15 minute video of person who makes chairs by hand. He is a craftsman who is happy doing the same set of things over and over - for decades. It reminded me of my thing for paper - and how the ofrenda project has morphed into a giant paper project.
I've had lots of fun researching Day of the Dead paper products. The main one is papal picado. I've seen videos on how these are made. They have a whole stack of thin paper and the cuts are made with a hammer and chisel. There might be other ways - and I'm guessing many are produced by machine.
This picture appealed to me and after I posted it - I realized that it probably reflects my more subdued aesthetic. There's no red or orange.
