To Mary, Jessica, and Carolyn - Knolling Pt 2

Note to self: Do not try to kill three birds with one stone. I was trying to use up the postcard stamps - because I had lumped them in with other stamps that were not going to be enough when the rates went up to 66-cents. Duh. Even I can do the math on 2x34 - and realize that the postcard stamps would be fine for a while. The second *bird* was pulling out gouache - instead of just talking about pulling out gouache. And the third *bird* was trying to find things that worked on the vellum envelopes. I should probably just stuff them in the back - and not even try to find things.

[Real time disclaimer: that blurb does not make sense. I apologize. I do not have time to rewrite it - because I have no idea what I was trying to say - and it would take to long to come up with something new to say.]

I made up Mary's font - off of Rachael's envelope to Wrigley - and then later found out that the font is from - rats - now I have forgotten the name of the artist. Rachael will tell us and I will fill it in.

I'm always trying different ways to use Jessica's really long name to its advantage. I liked the rough draft of this on notebook paper - but it was not as good on the actual envelope. Then I tried loopier pointed brush work and putting a pretty picture inside - not wildly exciting --

--- and more about Knolling. If you didn't read the link yesterday - all you need to know is that there are people who put things into orderly line-ups. Once I heard about it - I knew I was a born Knollerizer - and I think it is getting to be more of a *thing.* Weirdly - I do not do it at my desk while I am working - but the rest of the house - I find myself adjusting everything. Can you guess where this is going?

Yup. MrWilson is oblivious to right angles and straight lines. He is tidy - on the surface - and keeps a clutter-free environment - but that just makes it all the more noticeable - when his desk has only 3 items - but they are at odd angles.

I'm not sure how deeply I should get into this. Maybe I am curious. Does anyone else relate to this?

  1. Joan Miro is the artist/font name. But I like your version!

  2. I can relate to knolling and to applying it to everything except my work space, unless I'm tidying up my work space. But it quickly goes back to untidy. I've heard that people who have been institutionalized have tendencies towards knolling. I wonder if that's true, and if it's because they spend much of their time in lines while they are institutionalized or if it's a boredom thing. The mind is a complex thing.
