Irene's Instagram inspired me to pull out my wedge brush - and even though it was fun - I just dove in and did the flowers on the top three - and then realized that the poinsettias should go in the corners - without stems. My brain was doing daisy-style arrangements. So I tried a different kind of flower and they did not look promising - so then I thought of just practicing those shapes and tried two ways of practicing.
Then I stopped myself from doing any more because I had jumped into the whirlpool of non-planning. Not a good place to go. I was also mixed up on the concept of putting the Dec exchange envelopes inside the Nov envelopes and these were going to be outers.
Below are the mutant poinsettias with stamps that are OK.
Lynne's is probably my favorite of the three. Understated - and the colors please me. The lettering is fine with the monster. Sadly - the flowers clash with the lettering and the monster. Why didn't I think to put something red and whimsical on the flowers? <sigh>
Mary's and Juliana's are OK - the mutant poinsettias don't go with Mary's stamp and colors and spacing are off on Juliana's. It's probably good that I didn't even try to solve those problems. I still don't see an adequate fix. Note to self: Stop doing impulsive flowers just because Irene makes me feel like I could do something similar to hers. Clearly - she is putting in the necessary hours to master the wedge brush.
I love mine and think the colors go well with the stamp. Don't be so hard on yourself. Going off on a exploratory tangent should be fun. These envelopes look like you enjoyed yourself a little bit, and that, in itself, is enough to make up for any mistakes you think you made.
