what do the drums have to do with the year of the horse?
just curious. i suppose i could buy the stamps and read the back.

I believe the designer for this set of 12 stamps, Kam Mak, is featuring traditions associated with welcoming the Lunar New Year as a whole rather than animal-specific traits. The drums are used to welcome in the New Year, and the drumsticks are usually painted red. I know there has been some criticism of the de-emphasis on the animals, although I think the stamps are really attractive.
