bonus post

i had lunch at peggy's last wednesday and have been trying to make a thank you and it is dragging on. on the top one, i liked the eggy, but there are too many layers on the P and i need to just get it in the mail. i tried to do a better one, but the second eggy is terrible, but it is a nice crane's envelope and i can't bear to throw it out. i was only at her house for 2 hours and i am close to having more than 2 hours of fretting in on these envelopes. but, the part i want you to see is how the G-Tec turns into a nice wash. you have to do it as soon as you write. over time, the G-Tec ink dries. not permanent. but it will only do a nice wash right away. yes, i am trying to make som nancy-versals. i did a couple that were ok with gouache and wanted to see what would happen with g-tecs...

  1. Every envelope is a piece of art! Wow......!!!! I like the 2nd one the best!

  2. Well, the P may be a bit like an overfilled fish tank (perhaps you could make a little fish jumping out of the top of the P with some splashes!), but the first "eggy" is gorgeous, especially the "e"!

  3. "Hey, I wanna do that too!" That line from a movie is all I can think of when I look at these. If Peggy is not a professional letterer, she couldn't help but love it.

  4. thank you ladies....especially the suggestion to add fish...peggy and i were in college at the same time, she was a printmaker, then she headed the education dept where i teach and now she is retired...and happily making art every day. she will like that e, too. :-)

  5. I just went back to look at the envelopes again, and noticed something which had completely escaped my attention the first time around - that graceful and gorgeous "leonardo" on the second envelope. When I grow up, I want to be able to do that....

  6. and i just spent an hour trying to *match* your primo flourishing on the back of an envelope that came in feb, and was hiding in a stack. i keep thinking i need to hold it back...keep it for myself...but, now that i have talked about it, i have to post it...it is every bit as pretty as the leonardo...the n in leonardo is bad. it was a crane's envelope. those g-tecs love the crane's.
