so-so

not the best way to pack in the letters. i'm sure i drew the pale pink horizontal lines first. blocking off the envelope into a grid is a good way to start if you don't have any other idea.after tossing the letters out, look for a good place for the stamp.

  1. Hello Jean, I love your blog and all your envelopes. When you have an envelope like the above, do you place the return address on the back and does it get where it needs to go? I took an envelope to the p.o. a while back, and they told me not to put the return address on the back because "they might look at that address and send it back to the original person". HuH? Since when does the p.o. get that confused? I don't know. What's your experience? Thanks, Linda E.

  2. my experience with the postal workers is that there are LOTS of different opinions. 99% of the time, the mail gets to the address. This particular envelope was not intended to be mailed. but, i think it would have arrived. As long as the street and ZIP is clearly written and horizontal on the envelope, i think the postal workers find the address and send it along. some of the people who work the counter tend to have the most stories about why you should conform to certain standards. i just ignore them. there are lots of people who work the counters who are my friends and enjoy the creative mail. and there are lots of stories about the carriers who really love interesting mail. i think the postal service needs to embrace those of us who are taking time to use their services. i think you ran into one of those people who would prefer to come up with reasons to get people to conform and did not realize how silly they sounded. i'm glad you like the blog. thanks for posting.
