this is the beginning of 50 envelopes that i did for sandy for her 50th birthday. then i put them all in a book. then i showed it to her, but i asked her if i could keep it for a while because i wanted to scan the envelopes. i think that was 5 years ago.
this was the first envelope i did and i was going to do all 50 envelopes using the same stamp because i thought that was a good challenge, to see if i could come up with 50 ideas for one stamp.
how many do you think i ended up doing with this stamp?
first why did you select this stamp for the 50 designs
ReplyDeletesecond would you post the design elements used
third my guess would include the prefix giga
kathy
i probably thought that it was a pretty stamp. i can get a lot of ideas from flowers. i'm not sure what you mean by posting the design elements....i think this one shows contrast, between the size of the name and the size of the address. i see some balance and harmony. those are principles of design. elements are color and line, etc...and i'm not very good at expanding on elements....maybe you were thinking of both elements and principles? let me know if it is one or both. for sure, with a name like sandy...there are some good letters to design around
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that each envelope would have a separate idea from the art of the stamp. I am thinking that I may have misunderstood since you clearly state 50 ideas for one stamp and not necessarily 'from.'
ReplyDeleteoh...i get it. i just meant *could i do 50 different envelopes with the same stamp without any of them looking like they were too much the same. that would have been a very subjective decision. i actually got really lazy and most of them are just a big first name. i should actually DO the exercise of finding 50 different ideas *from* one stamp. that's a very cool idea. now...to choose the stamp. any suggestions?
ReplyDeletestamps i love: Mary Cassat; Adopt a Child; any weather/cloud; any Native American art; any Latino art.
ReplyDeletei do not seem to be focused.
eventually, i will find the series i did on the navaho rugs. i know i did 25 layouts. i don't think i finished all of them because i ran out of stamps. but, i could photocopy the stamps and just finish the envelopes for the sake of having the set...and not mail them
